Hello! My name is Marta. I'll be managing your stay at our "Your Home In Ludington" properties. I'm a Ludington local for 15 years now so I'm very excited to welcome you to this beautiful part of Michigan. The family who owns this home, has been very gracious to open their Lake Home up for you to enjoy. We hope you love and create many memories in this home as they have.
We goal is to provide our guests with an exceptional experience and do our best to accommodate requests. My team and I strive to provide you with a very clean, well organized and comfortable home for your stay.
A little about me...I moved to Ludington from Howell about 15 years ago and had the luxury of working from home. I stumbled across the rental market about 9 years again when my husband and I bought our first short term rental home in our neighborhood. One home led to another and then I started hosting homes for neighbors who live outside the area. I definitely have the rental bug and love meeting all the families we are fortunate to host.
I live in the neighborhood so you will see me during your stay as I am also the trash lady:)
I am easily accessible during your stay if you have any questions or concerns. My priority is that you enjoy our home and everything our property has to offer. Let me help you make your stay memorable and a vacation you and your family/friends will always remember.
We value all our guests and work to Exceed Your Expectations!
Don’t just take it from us. Read some of our past guests reviews of their stay at Hamlin House.
This house was awesome and exactly as advertised. We had a couple of special requests and Marta was amazing in working with us to make our trip truly amazing. Would absolutely recommend and stay again.”
– Craig
“The house was 100% as advertised. Comfortably slept 6 adult couples and a couple kiddos. Marta was accessible if needed and the place is spotless and lovely. Plus, excellent public beach access 10 minutes from the house and several boat rental options within walking distance. OUTSTANDING!”
– Joshua
“Great house and location! Marta is an excellent host…quick to respond if u have a question and her homemade cookies are fantastic!”

Your Home In Ludington 2022 – 2024.
Our biggest home with 3,600 sf. of living space & 150′ water frontage all for your enjoyment. Dock for fishing & swimming, boat well to tie up your boat, and sunset views around the bonfire. The perfect place to gather and enjoy all that “Lake Life” has to offer.
“Wonderful place to stay for our big group. Very comfortable and well-equipped home/cottage property. Pictures are accurate, but don’t fully represent the fact that they also have a beautiful laundry room, an extra storage room with another fridge, a large and well equipped 2 car garage, and the gas grill is located in a sheltered deck area just off the kitchen.
There are 5 bedrooms upstairs and 2 bedrooms (with queen beds) on the main floor (including master with ensuite and walk in closet) The bedrooms are well equipped, linens are clean and fresh… and most bedrooms have closets. We had plenty of room for our big group and still more space if we had decided to also use the pull-out couch in the front family room.
The waterfront area is large, and the sea wall is about 3-4 ft high. You cannot really get into the water without the ladder or steps. The lake bottom is shallow and sandy off the sea wall, but has weeds and zebra mussels, so water shoes are helpful. The nearby dunes on the lake and also on Lake Michigan are so much fun to explore. We enjoyed the kayaks provided as well.
You can dock your boat here but be warned that the lake can get very rough in a storm and there is no lift or real protection if that happens. A boat launch and a marina with gas is just a few doors down from the cottage.
Kitchen was quite well equipped there was very little else we needed that we could not find in the kitchen! There were lots of dishes, cutlery, pots and pans as well as a variety of spices and other essentials.
Marta is truly a super host, she is available quickly to address any issues you might have. A great place to stay for sure!!”
– Steven
“Great location and hospitality. Highly recommend.”

“Amazing location and a diamond in the rough . Great space indoor and outdoor to enjoy dinner and the sunset every evening. The house has all the amenities, kitchen is well furnished, many bedrooms and beds available for large family (we were 4 adults and 3 teens). Beds are comfortable and you can fall asleep with the sounds the lake at night…very quiet and private. Even in the summer (July) with no AC the house is breezy and cools off at night. We brought a portable AC and never used it. Marta was a great host and made sure we had everything we needed. There are many stores (Walgreens, Grocery, Home Depot, etc) few miles away for all necessities. We rented a large pantoon boat and docked it at the house the entire stay…just perfect to get up in the morning and enjoying the lake and the dunes. Also took advantage of few kayaks and bikes available. Overall great house and value! Highly recommended by an experienced and demanding traveler family. We will rent again!”
– Andrea
“House is everything as written. Really nice to have some of the ‘comforts of home’ with pantry items being available, plenty of soft towels and linens as well as kayaks and bikes. Even though the house is a little dated, the space is great and it is super clean and well maintained! Nicely located on water as well as close to the state park and downtown Ludington.”
– Josette
“First off, the property is even better than the pictures. The living spaces are large and accommodating for the 13 adults and teens we had staying for the long weekend. The property was very clean, and the setting provided us with amazing evenings. The lake was great, good for swimming, fishing, kayaking and boating. (FYI-watch for zebra mussels.) Marta is a super host, very responsive, helpful, and provides just the right amount of attention.”

We had everything we needed and more- she even brought by picnic blankets because we mentioned we left ours at home. I would book this home again anytime. In fact, I’ve already shared the listing with multiple friends. Thank you Marta for providing a safe haven for us to get away for a long weekend!” – Samantha M.

“We were extremely impressed with our host. She met us upon our arrival, with a platter of fresh brownies! (Which were amazing) She walked us through the ins and outs of the house and let us know she would be available if we needed anything. She also provided us with some great info of the area and the lake. Before checkout she came by with more treats and asked about our stay. Wonderful hospitality!” – William G.

“Our family of 9 could really stretch out in this spacious vacation home. The living area was immense. Grandchildren aged 9 to 12 loved jumping into the lake and doing some kayaking. They also enjoyed the selection of movies available…..we could all fit on the wrap around couch in the living room. Having all towels and bedding provided made packing a breeze. This is a nice set up for our 17 foot boat also. Kitchen was very updated and provided lots of storage for us. Any large family is going to love this place. Marta could not have been more accommodating….she was great to work with.”
– Kerry D.
“It was very awesome. House was super clean.”
– James G.
“The house was the perfect size for all 12 of us! It had everything we needed and more. We had a great vacation!!”

“Great place. Loved it. Just a few ac units for the hot nights but great time.”
– Mark W.
The “Treehouse Cottage” is perched on the hill overlooking Hamlin Lake-South Bayou. This cottage provides you with a sense of serenity as soon as you arrive. The beautiful water views, the comfort of home and quiet atmosphere allows you to unwind and enjoy family time. Our cottage is dog friendly and provides private lake access.
“My parents and I had a lovely and relaxing stay for the week. It was our first time to Ludington and Marta was super helpful with suggestions! We loved the location on the water, the views, and the pedal boat. The house itself was very clean and comfortable with all the essentials you could ask for. I’ve also never had someone bake cookies for the arrival which was a huge perk and so delicious! Marta went above and beyond to find a local cherry pie for my parents, too. I highly recommend staying here and hope to come back!”
– Lisa
“Marta is an excellent host always quick to get back to you.”
– Ed
“Clean house and had everything we needed for cooking and grilling out. Enjoyable stay and would recommend this house.”
– Becky G.
“My husband, 2 year old and I had a great Labor day weekend at this adorable cabin! We were a short drive from town/the city beach or the state park. Well the 2 year old was napping there were plenty of games, etc for us to play at the house. Breakfasts & bonfires staring at the lake were wonderful <3 The front bedroom does get warmer than the back one, but there are fans downstairs to help keep cool! Marta was the greatest, she is quick to respond. She also made us brownies and brought us fresh picked blueberries. Ty!”
– Brooke R.
“We really enjoyed this property. Marta was super helpful and very welcoming.”
– Margaret R.
“This was a great place to stay. There was a lot of space for my family and had a beautiful view of the lake. Manager was readily available if we needed anything/had any concerns. I would definitely recommend this place to others!!”
– Dana L.
“Enjoyed our first stay in Ludington. The state park beaches are close by (10 min drive) and were really nice. Downtown was also a short 5-10 min drive with another beach and plenty of activities. Relaxing weekend getaway in a not so crowded lake town. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed. The host Marta even made sure we had a pack and play and feeding seat for our 1 year old, which was a big deal for us. We would stay here again and look forward to another trip there.”
– Brian B.
“Thank you for offering this wonderful place to stay. My family had a lot of fun exploring the area. We loved the layout of the house and our teens really enjoyed the basement and garage. The ping pong table was a lot of fun! Marta was very sweet!! She gave us suggestions of things to do and contacts for these suggestions as well as fresh baked brownies waiting for us upon arrival. Thanks again!”
– Dawn W.
“We stayed here for 4 nights while exploring the surrounding area, and couldn’t have been more pleased! This cabin is beautiful inside and the location was perfect for our needs. We visited Ludington State Park, Michigan’s Adventure, and Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes while we were there, and it was convenient to everything.
– It’s a beautiful home, nicely appointed and decorated. The little decorative touches everywhere definitely made it feel like we were visiting a friend’s home instead of a rental property.
– Very nicely stocked kitchen. The appliances worked well and there were plenty of dishes and cookware.
– Plenty of soft seating, with comfortable furniture and side tables, and adequate lighting for reading. There is plenty of dining space as well.
– Very comfortable beds and sufficient bedding for our needs.
– Beautiful view of Hamlin Lake from the front of the cabin. We enjoyed having our breakfast while overlooking the lake.
– Plenty of consumables were provided (paper towels, bath tissue, dish soap, laundry soap, etc.). Knowing this ahead of time via the rental agreement was very helpful, as it meant less for us to pack.
– The small garage was helpful to keep our bikes in on the days that we weren’t taking them with us.
– The property is very close to beautiful Ludington State Park and the nice downtown area. In addition, there is a boat rental facility a few doors down for Hamlin Lake.
– Note that there is no A/C, BUT there are a ton of windows and fans, and a nice breeze from the lake. We were completely comfortable even in mid-August.
– Personal welcome and brief tour from the property manager Marta was a nice touch. Plus, she baked cookies for us upon arrival which was a pleasant surprise!
In summary, we really enjoyed this cabin and the only negative is that we would have loved to stay longer! The owner and property manager clearly care about your experience here (which is not always the case). We will definitely consider staying here again on our next visit to the area.”
– Stacey S.
I loved the fact that the house was very clean, had a beautiful lake view and had a kitchen with everything needed. My grandchildren loved the lower level family room connected to the walk-out (used to be) garage complete with ping-pong table, books, out-door toys and even bicycles! As you sit around the campfire you have a beautiful lake and sky view. It’s a stargazers delight.
Like many Ludington lake houses there is no air conditioning, however fans that are provided, a multitude of windows and an almost constant lake breeze take care of that situation.
I would highly recommend this vacation spot!”
“Great stay. Has everything you need. Very roomy.”
– Andrew
If you are looking for a getaway to relax, enjoy some family time by the water’s edge with all the conveniences of home while still being a 5-minute drive from all the action, this is the perfect home for you. Our home is large enough to accommodate your family or multiple families comfortably.
“We had an amazing time at this beautiful house. We had everything we needed and then some. There was plenty of space for everyone. Sitting on the deck overlooking the lake was so peaceful and relaxing. We loved all the water toys! Marta was a wonderful host. Just wish we could have stayed longer.”
“This was our first experience ever. Marta and the house/property went above and beyond!!!”
“We enjoyed all the details that the home had to offer. The location was close to many attractions. Nice neighborhood on a quiet road. very spacious in the common areas to gather as well as the master bedroom. Two living room areas were great. The kitchen was well stocked with all that you would need to cook and store leftovers. It was nice to have a washer and dryer there. The bathroom had lots of towels. We enjoyed the outside, too. The back porch was a very large area to eat, sit and bbq. Ideal to hang out for a long period of time. The yard was well maintained and you can play outdoor games there. Sit on the dock… watch the sun set. A lovely vacation.”
“We had a great time. Accommodations exceeded our expectations. The place was well equiped with all we needed from cooking to enjoying time on the lake.”
– Karen M.
“This vacation home was the best thing we could have rented for our family. My husband and I reserved this home in place of buying Christmas presents for our 4 children/families. The size of the home gave us all our own “space” to enjoy. The back deck was a nice place to have our morning coffee and relax in the evening. Marta was very nice and accommodating and had everything you could think of in the house. Nice quiet neighborhood the whole week. It was nice to have access to the garage so that our bikes and kayaks could be stored. Cannot wait until next year to return and have another great week. Our 4 children enjoyed each other’s company and their only request was to get freshly baked cookies Marta provided upon arrival every other day instead ! Thank you again for providing such a wonderful vacation home for our family.”
– Sue K.
“My family and I have been renting properties across the US for some time now. Without doubt, Marta and her “Ludington Hideaway” rate among the best we have stayed in! Why? ATTENTION TO DETAIL! From the warm welcome (the homemade cookies are great!) and spotless accommodations to the great location and “they’ve thought of EVERYTHING” amenities, this is a property you will NEVER regret selecting. Seriously, it’s that good! Thank you Marta, we certainly look forward to renting with you again!”
– Kevin K.
“Absolutely perfect place to celebrate my mom’s birthday. Check in was amazing. The place is fantastic. It’s a huge yet cozy home that was wonderful for 3 generations to spend time together. Beds were comfortable, decor was delightful, the hostess was amazing. We loved being on the water. We will be back for a week next year.”
– Shawna C.
As for the area itself, the bayou was quiet and peaceful. It is fairly close to downtown, but also close to Ludington State Park. We enjoyed walking and biking around the local roads, kayaking on the water, and fishing.
Also, the homemade cookies? They were amazing!
Thank you, we really enjoyed our stay.”
The house was spotless; the cupboards were well stocked and organized exactly as I would organize them. The yards were perfectly groomed and lovely.
We enjoyed kayaking and our 8 year-old granddaughter showed us all how to use the stand up paddle board. =0
We went to the State Park, swam in Hamlin Lake, hiked some trails and saw Bambi’s Mamma while we were hiking. We also saw a Garder snake that fascinated our grandson.
Marta was a fabulous hostess. Our daughter’s only critique is that she wished there had been a “double batch” of Marta’s homemade cookies! (I was glad that there wasn’t!! I was eating two at a time!)
We tied up two boats: fished and went tubing. The kiddos played on the “Lilly Pad” that our son & daughter-in-law had the foresight to bring. I’m sure that the squeals of delight were heard all around the lake. The grands did some outstanding cannonballs!
We loved it…and we will NOT be giving up our time at the Hideaway any time in the near future!
Thank you, Marta”
“Ludington Hideway was amazing place for our family. Lots of room for our teenagers, their friends, and us to break out and have our own space. The two separate living rooms was perfect. The boys had the downstairs to themselves and the girls claimed the upstairs. My husband and I got the solitude of the deck.
The access to water with the Kayaks was incredible. This allowed the teenagers time to be outdoors and explore.
The fire pit was a huge hit for making smores.
The kitchen had more than ample utensils, appliances, and seasonings for a night of cooking in.
The washer and dryer allowed us to pack lighter and keep from having a mound of laundry when we got home.
Marta was incredible. From her fantastic local tips, delicious homemade cookies, and recommendations for a local baker to make our daughter’s birthday cake.
If you are looking for a place to explore the Michigan look no further. Ludington Hideway is definitely the place you should stay.
Note: There are plenty of personal touches for families with younger children (life vests, toys, etc.)”
– Susan H.
“We stayed at this property for a 90th birthday celebration for my Father-in-Law. It was a family celebration and we had a great time. Fishing was good and Dad enjoyed being back on Hamlin Lake after fishing there for many years. The house was great we had lots of room for the eight of us to spread out and play games or watch TV. We love loved visiting the quaint little towns they were all so friendly. Marta and Mike were the perfect hosts and Marta even baked a cake for Dad it was a big hit. Us girls love the decor lots of great ideas to bring home. Thanks again for a great time. We came away with lots of great memories. The Truex Family”
– Terry T.
“We were here on an annual girls weekend, and had a great experience. Lots of room to spread out. Well stocked kitchen. Bedding was very comfortable. We were impressed when we walked in, bright and fresh. And fantastic brownies! (Oops, secret’s out)
We highly recommend, and would happily return.”
– Eileen J.
“This is our 5th summer staying at this home and we absolutely love it. There is enough room for all us, home is well stocked for cooking and extremely comfortable. The views off the deck are amazing, we are able to fish off the seawall, kids use the kayaks/SUP that are provided and we dock our boat just feet from the home. Marta has done many updated to the home and they are awesome. There are 3 families in our party and we look forward to returning each summer. We all highly recommend this home.”
– Marta G.
Marta has everything needed in this home and the access to the lake was so relaxing. We have several in our group that had never been to Michigan so we were planning on traveling to mackinaw, sleeping bear dunes etc to give them a little better view and all they wanted to do was hang at the house, fish, kayak and canoe. The lay out of the house is great for a larger group…..den is the opposite end of the bedrooms and den downstairs. P.s. She is very babyfied too. Porta crib, highchair, sippy cups…..Thanks again!”
“We love everything about spending a week on the bayou in June.
The facility is nearly perfect for us, and Marta makes it even better. We are re-upped for next year.”
The place is very clean! The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, utensils, cooking tools – everything you need. There was even a big basket full of clean beach towels for us to use.
The owner is very easy to work with, very accommodating and we highly recommend this place!
DeGraaf Family”
We have stayed at many other rentals in the area over the years which we thought were very nice, this one really topped the charts! Cant wait to go back!!”
responsive, acting immediately to provide what we needed or answering the questions we had. We have signed-up already, for a week next year!”
This home is perfect if you are looking to slow down & take a break. The covered deck overlooking the lake offers a great spot to relax & unwind. Your day can consist of catching some rays & swimming off the dock. Fishing is always an option. In the evening, light a bonfire, roast marshmallows & look for the big dipper.
“We had 5 separate families, each had a space of their own. The house had everything we needed and the hostess was phenomenal.”
This place was fabulous, clean, stocked with essentially everything you need! The lawn was large and fairly private-bring your lawn games there is plenty of room. The house has air conditioning AND lots of fans. It was very comfortable and Marta was never far away-she lives around the corner if you need anything! There was really no beach. There is a seawall and the water is probably 3ish feet deep with a bit of scuzzy seaweed on the bottom. There are nice steps off the dock but no place for little ones to play if you have small kids-it’s quite a drop. The fishing off the dock is hit or miss, you probably won’t catch dinner off the dock. Otherwise the lake is huge-clean-and fairly shallow. We had fun kayaking but the lake can get choppy and rough quickly. The weather was also really different depending how far you were from Lake Michigan-the weather apps don’t predict well there. We had a great time otherwise even with dicey weather! The place is huge and really nice.
“The place and location couldn’t have been any better. It was a great time to spend time with family.”
– Pat R.
“We had a great experience having a quiet getaway at the lake. We enjoyed the cottage and convenience to Lake Michigan and Ludington restaurants and attractions. The large deck was especially nice for enjoying lake views.”
– Erin G.
“Marta is a great host. She was very responsive to any questions we had, she was friendly and respectful. She had great recommendations for things to do in the area. The house was clean and well stocked from kayaks to cooking utensils and linens we were set for the week. We had a great time swimming, floating, boating and relaxing on the lawn. The fire pit was great to watch the sunset from. We pitches a shelter out in the lawn for some shade but you have to make sure to take it down because of the wind. Marta brought us some fresh picked Michigan blueberries one day and they were fantastic. She really cares about the guests and property and we really appreciate that.”
– Grace.
“This beautiful home was clean, well stocked and had everything my wife and I needed. Marta’s attention to detail is amazing, right down to the fireplug in the doggie potty area which I thought was very fun and clever. All kitchenware, bathroom needs, towels, you name it, were on site. We enjoyed the yard, the fire pit and being able to fish right off the dock. Would definitely stay here again, perhaps next year to once again see the beautiful Michigan fall colors.”
– Michael L.
“This was our first time In Ludington and we can’t wait to go back! We made a last minute attempt to get away for the weekend and really hit the jackpot with this rental. Marta was truly amazing to work with, and the house was more than we hoped for. Marta has paid attention to every detail so we felt instantly at home (the brownies certainly didn’t hurt!). We had everything we needed and more- she even brought by picnic blankets because we mentioned we left ours at home. I would book this home again anytime. In fact, I’ve already shared the listing with multiple friends. Thank you Marta for providing a safe haven for us to get away for a long weekend! We hope to come back in 2021!”

“The house was super clean and well stocked; even fresh baked cookies on arrival. We had fun with the layaks and sitting around the fire pit. Definitely one of the nicest houses we’ve stayed at!”

“This was a great location. Quiet, paved roads for running and biking. It was easy to launch kayaks from the dock. Short drive to downtown Ludington and Ludington State Park.”
– Heather H.
Marta had EVERYTHING we needed…even a couple things we forgot! She was a quick text/phone call away and even greeted us with fresh baked cookies which was such a welcoming treat!
I highly recommended staying here or any other property Mike and Marta own. Marta even went as far as mailing a couple items we left behind!
We cant wait to book our next vacation with them.”
“Marta went over and above to make sure the home was spotless and had all the supplies you could need and more. I would definitely recommend this home for your vacation. Marta also provided yummy homemade cookies upon arrival!”

Marta met us at the house with fresh baked brownies. Our GPS had a bit of a problem finding the house, so I would recommend asking for written directions.
Bring bug spray-lots of mosquitoes in the morning and evening..
We had a wonderful stay and would recommend this house to anyone!”
Keep up the great job Marta!”
Thanks again Marta! We would love to come back!!”
I would like to note that 2 if the 3 bedrooms are up an extremely steep flight of stairs, so if stairs are difficult for you make sure you work out the bedroom situation. There is also a flight of stairs to get to the front door. So if you don’t do stairs this might not be for you.
We were extremely impressed with our host. She met us upon our arrival, with a platter of fresh brownies! (Which were amazing) She walked us through the ins and outs of the house and let us know she would be available if we needed anything. She also provided us with some great info of the area and the lake. Before checkout she came by with more treats and asked about our stay. Wonderful hospitality!
We had such a great time, we will be returning to this house the next time we come to the Ludington area!”
This rental, and its owner, made us feel right at home. This home is located in the perfect spot, you can enjoy Pure Michigan sunsets from the deck, fire pit or backyard on Hamlin Lake, or just a few minute drive to the Dunes of Ludington State Park, Also, there are boat rentals two doors down which was very convenient, and just a twenty + minute drive to the BEST dog park we’ve ever been located in the Manistee National Forest.
We loved it so much we’ve already booked are return for next year, 2017.”
We did not bring a boat but we have rented a fishing boat from the marina at Sauble Resort and we were very pleased with their service.
We highly recommend this place and we are seriously considering going back next summer.”
“Marta runs a great place. The cabin is amazing. Great access to the lake right out the back door. Very well appointed. You need to go there and stay! Everything you need is there and Marta is always willing to help. All we can say is give this one a try…you will not be disappointed!”
